I choose to love you. I choose to embrace you. I choose to lay down my life for you. You are mine. I am not running away from you, I am choosing to enjoy you. I am settling here. Letting my roots go down deep and I am growing here. I am flourishing here. I will have beautiful fruit here. I am also surrendering those wandering thoughts. The ones that try to convince me the grass is greener else where. I am surrendering those lies. Not allowing them to linger in my mind. Instead I am choosing to believe that this is what I was made for. This IS my destiny. No one better for the job than ME. I have everything I need to do this well.
John 10:11-13 says “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when the wolf is coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man who runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.”
When it comes to our seasons and the things in our lives that are un-changeable – for example being a mom & wife or homeschooling your kiddos (IF that’s what God has asked of you) or your work or your laundry pile, or your budgeting or meals, your health or WHATEVER or WHEREVER you find yourself in this season – we must make a CHOICE that we are owning our lives, we do not run away and hope things will get better on their own. We embrace the hard work and the messiness and the uncomfortableness that the season brings and we grow in it. We give ourselves grace as we grow and rise up and overcome. We will flourish here.
It’s a fine-line between dreaming about the future but not wishing away this season so I can live in the future now. Hold on their turbo! That season will come, but for now let those dreams pull the best out of you today, inspire you and excite you for the great things to come. But do not allow those dreams to rob the joy in THIS season wishing for something else.
This job is a lot of hard work so I want to make sure I am sucking the life out of this season too! I want to be relentless in maintaining my attitude of gratitude, cherishing those life-giving moments, laughing whenever I possibly can, smiling and seeing the humor in situations, living by faith and not by sight. I choose to LOOK for the good and feed on that. I choose to focus on the fun, the beautiful, the sweet moments, the treasured moments.
No one else can gift my girls & my husband with a wife & mom that is content and genuinely happy, joy-filled and thankful than me! That is a gift to be stewarded well and only I can give that to the ones that mean the most to me. Not to mention, it is loving myself well when I do not allow toxic thinking to linger within myself, it’s a gift to myself when I live this way. Joy is NOT a circumstantial thing, it is an inward job. It comes from within, it comes from God and it is my strength in this life!
One closing thought, being faithful in THIS season will unlock our next season. Our seasons build upon each-other so IT MATTERS how we navigate this season. It matters, our attitudes. Our perspective. Our faith. Our actions. How we carry ourselves. IT MATTERS.
To the one who is with us, who leads us and guides us in this life, to the one who supplies us with everything we need that pertains to life and godliness. To the one who LOVES us and comforts us and who never leaves us or forsakes us, to the one who richly supplies all of our needs in Christ Jesus, to the one who is our helper, who is the lifter up our heads, to the one is the way-maker, to the one who is our healer physically and emotionally – HE is the one who causes us to triumph in this life. We are never alone, my friends. He’s our strength, our built-in encourager and best friend. How could we not overcome when we get to live this life WITH HIM?! He is with us.
